| Donate Furniture |
If you any have unwanted furniture and household effects which are in a reasonable condition that you no longer need then please consider contacting us. All donations of furniture are passed on through a referral system to those in need. Please note we only collect from within Powys.
How do I donate furniture?
All you need to do is phone your nearest office and provide us with a full list of the items which you wish to donate, and we will then arrange a date to collect them from you. Please note that we might be unable to give you a specific timeslot to come and make a collection. We will collect free of charge for all donations of under six items. For over six items we may make a charge to cover our expenses. Alternatively you can bring in items to your nearest office. If we are not open then please do not leave furniture outside for us.
What kind of things can I donate?
For a general list of the items that we currently accept please view the Purchase Furniture page.
We are unable to guarantee that we will accept your items. Our drivers have been briefed about what is and is not acceptable, and are authorised to reject items which they do not feel are reusable. As a general rule we are unable to accept:
* Stained items such as mattresses, chairs, sofas etc.
* Wet, damp or water damaged items.
* Broken items or items with pieces or fittings missing.
* Items should meet current health and safety standards (ie have a fire retardant label etc)
We are a charity keeping our costs to a minimum, and therefore cannot afford to take items that we cannot use.
When will you come and collect from me?
You can view the schedule for each office by clicking on Schedule on right hand side under the appropriate office to gain some idea of when we are in your area. However, we will confirm a date when you contact us. Please note that we require at least a days notice and will be unable to fit you in for collection on the same day that you ring us.
Preparing your items for collection
If you have arranged for us to collect items from you we would be grateful if you could:
* Ensure that the items are emptied and ready for collection (ie clothes, personal items etc).
* If you are donating a fridge/freezer please ensure that it has been emptied, unplugged, and fully defrosted before we come to collect it. As a rough guide unplug your fridge/freezer a minimum of 24 hours before we visit you.
* Please also ensure that we are able to easily access the items and that you have made a clear pathway for us (ie removed flower pots, hanging mirrors, pictures etc).
* If you are donating large items such as bunk beds, high sleeper beds etc it would be helpful if you would be able to dismantle them for us. If you are able to do so, please also ensure that you have all of the fittings for it.
By preparing your items for collection you are greatly helping us to save time that will allow us to assist a greater number of people.
Will you buy my furniture?
We are a charity and therefore a non-profit organisation. As a result we are unable to purchase any furniture from you or sell any furniture on your behalf. Also we do not swap furniture or offer discounts in return for furniture donations.
Why should I donate to you?
Phoenix offers a lifeline to those on benefits and low incomes living in rural Powys. By donating your unneeded furniture to us you are not only preventing unnecessary dumping, but you are also helping your community, the environment, and improving the quality of life of somebody in need. As a non-profit organisation Phoenix does not profit from your donations.
